James E. Hamous, MD

Dr. James E. Hamous joined Amarillo Pathology Group as an associate in 1983 and became a partner in 1986.

Dr. Hamous served the United States Military as a Medical Technologist at Fort Benning, Georgia in the Martin Army Hospital until 1973.  Upon his completion of service, Dr. Hamous completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Nebraska in Omaha, Nebraska in 1975.  He continued his education at the University of Nebraska to complete his masters in Biochemistry and his Medical Degree until 1979.  Dr. Hamous completed his Residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa until 1983.

Dr. Hamous continued his medical career with staff appointments at St. Anthony’s Hospital, and presently at the Northwest Texas Hospital, Baptists St. Anthony’s Hospital, Northwest Texas Surgery Center, and BSA Panhandle Surgery Center.  He is a presently a consulting staff member at Hereford Regional Medical Center, the Dumas Memorial Hospital, the Hansford County Hospital, the Parmer County Community Hospital, and the Veteran’s Medical Center.  Currently, Dr. Hamous is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Texas Tech University Health Science Center and a Director of Surgical Pathology Services at Northwest Texas Healthcare Services.

Dr. Hamous is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.  He holds medical licensure in Texas.

Dr. Hamous is affiliated as a fellow of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the College of American Pathologists.  Dr. Hamous is a member of the Potter-Randall County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Society, and the Texas Society of Pathologists.
